Coney Chili Dogs
These amazing Coney Chili Dogs are perfect for your Memorial Day BBQ.
Ingredients
  • 1 TBS vegetable oil
  • 1 lb ground beef chuck
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 TBS chili powder
  • pinch kosher salt
  • pinch pepper
  • 1 (6 oz. can) tomato paste
  • 2 TBS spicy brown mustard
  • 2 TBS worcestershire sauce
  • 2 TBS light brown sugar
  • 8 pork or beef hot dogs
  • 8 hot dog rolls, split open
  • minced white onion
Instructions
First Make the sauce: Heat the oil, 1 turn of the pan, in a medium saucepan over medium- high heat. Add the beef and cook 5 to 6 minutes, crumbling with a wooden spoon as it cooks. Once the meat is browned, add the yellow onion, garlic, and chili powder. Season with the salt and the pepper. Stir in 1 cup of water and the tomato paste. Stir to combine, bring to a boil, and reduce the heat to simmering Whisk in the mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and the brown sugar. Cook over low heat until thick, 30 to 40 minutes. When the sauce is ready, bring a few inches of water to a boil in a deep skillet. Reduce the heat to a low boil, add the dogs, and cook 4 to 5 minutes to heat through. Nestle the dogs in the rolls, top with Coney Island sauce and minced white onion
